MARK CLAYTON
Responsibilities:
As Chief Financial Officer, Mark is responsible for the financial operations of the Company including finances, contracts, accounting and human resources. He also assists with our consulting services and business development efforts.
Background:
Mark has worked in the club business from the bag room to the General Manager's office. With close to three decades of management experience as a Controller, Assistant General Manager, General Manager and regional general manager, his experience has covered both for-profit and not-for-profit clubs, as well as the certification process of the Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary program. In addition to his club management experience, Mark spent several years with Ernst & Whinney (now Ernst & Young) as an auditor involved with clients in the banking, financial, health care, hospitality and recreational industries. This financial background has been a strong asset for achieving financial turnarounds and improving profits at his various clubs.
Education:
Mark graduated from the College of William & Mary with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. He was elected to the Beta Gamma Sigma National Business Honor Society and is a former Certified Public Accountant certificate holder in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Professional Involvement:
Mark is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management and is connected to the National Golf Course Owners Association and Community Associations Institute. He is also a former member of the Club Managers Association of America and the Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals.
Personal:
Mark and his wife, Dawn, live in Durham, North Carolina.
